Hymn: What A Friend we Have In Jesus

Welcome and Introduction

We meet in the presence of God

Who knows our needs,

Hears our cries,

Feels our pain,

And heals our wounds.

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified:

Hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people,

that in their vocation and ministry

they may serve you in holiness and truth to the glory of your name;

through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever:

We come to God as one from whom no secrets are hidden, to ask for his forgiveness and peace..

God our Father,

we come to you in sorrow for our sins.

For turning away from you,

And ignoring your will for our lives;

Father, forgive us:

Save us and help us.

For behaving just as we wish,

Without thinking of you;

Father forgive us:

Save us and help us.

For failing you by what we do,

And think and say;

Father, forgive us:

Save us and help us.

For letting ourselves be drawn away from you

by temptations in the world about us;

Father, forgive us:

Save us and help us.

For living as if we were ashamed

To belong to your Son;

Father, forgive us:

Save us and help us

The almighty and merciful Lord

grant us pardon and forgiveness for all our sins,

time for amendment of life,

and the grace and strength of the Holy Spirit.

Affirmation of Faith

Do you believe and trust in God the Father,

source of all being and life,

the one for whom we exist?

We believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Son, who took our human nature,

died for us and rose again?

We believe and trust in him.

Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit,

who gives life to the people of God

and makes Christ known in the world?

We believe and trust in him.

This is the faith of the Church.

This is our faith.

We believe and trust in one God,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Reading: 1 John. Chapter 1, verses 5-10.

Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

This is the word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Talk – by Lucy

Song: Hear Our Prayer

Adapted from Psalm 86

Hear, O Lord, and answer me;

For as rich as I think I am, I confess that I am poor and needy.  Guard my life, for I am devoted to you.

When I have done what is wrong and displeasing in your sight, O Lord, extend your love to correct me.

When I ignore those in need and shrug off my responsibilities in this world, O Lord, help me to face the truth.

When I turn a blind eye to those who have been stricken with poverty and are facing the injustices that come along with it,

O Lord, teach me your way.

Enable me to extend your love; and give me an undivided heart, that I may respect your name.

I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;

And I will glorify your name forever.

We observe 2 minutes’ silence for reflection and contemplation.

Let us cast our sin onto this stone and imagine that we are tossing it into the sea to be washed clean by the tides.

We pray together

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Hymn: Amazing Grace

May God the Father,

Who does not despise the broken spirit, give you a contrite heart.

May Christ,

Who bore our sins in his body on the tree,

Heal you by his wounds.

May the Holy Spirit,

who leads us into all truth, speak to you in words of pardon and peace.

And the blessing of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be upon you always.
