Welcome and Notices

The light and peace of Jesus Christ be with you

And also with you

The glory of the Lord has risen upon us

Let us rejoice and sing God’s praise forever.

Confession

Words from psalm 143

Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy;
in your faithfulness and righteousness  come to my relief.
Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.

Most merciful God

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ

We confess he we have sinned in thought, word and deed. We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are and direct what we shall be; that we may do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen

Absolution
May the almighty and merciful Lord grant you pardon and forgiveness of all your sins, time for amendment of life and the grace and comfort of the Holy Spirit  Amen

Affirmation of faith

Holy, holy, holy

is the Lord God almighty,

who was, and is, and is to come.

We believe in God the Father,

who created all things:

for by his will they were created

and have their being.

We believe in God the Son,

who was slain:

for with his blood,

he purchased us for God,

from every tribe and language,

from every people and nation.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit:

the Spirit and the Bride say,‘Come!’

Even so come, Lord Jesus!

Amen.

Reading 1 Thessalonians 4 v 1-12

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honourable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b] The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

This is the word of the Lord

Thanks be to God

Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as pass our understanding pour into our hearts such love toward you

that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises which exceed all that we can desire, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful encouragement we receive in Your written word, and the enlightenment that You have given us about these end times. May we look for the blessed hope, when Christ returns - and in the meantime, may we continue to go forth and proclaim the gospel of grace, while there is still time - and we pray that many would come to faith in You, through our testimony and for Your greater praise and glory, this we pray in Jesus name, AMEN.

St Michael’s Prayer for Growth
God of Mission
Who alone brings growth to your Church,
Send your Holy Spirit to give
Vision to our planning,
Wisdom to our actions
Joy to our worship
And power to our witness.
Help our church to grow in numbers,
In spiritual commitment to you,
And in service to our local community,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Lord’s Prayer:

Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come; your will be done; on earth as in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil.

For Kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

Now and for ever.

Amen.

The Peace

May the God of peace make you completely holy,

ready for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The peace of the Lord be always with you..

And also with you.
